The story was already finished, the manga is concluded and already even got a 10 chapter sequel to give us some insight in the future after the main story finished... and possible starts another one sometime.

But the anime still didn't end, as it's usually a year ot so behind the manga.

This game is about the conclusion of the series, though, it'll be finishing it. Probably close to the anime end, I don't know where the anine is at but it's really close to end as well, as it has been a good while since the manga finished.

The 10 chapter sequel was just a promotion for the Boruto film.
