Recently PSV is quite often even selling worse than WiiU in Japan, something that likely won´t change for the upcoming weeks this year and the gap between both this years sales will likely end up just only under 200k units in favour of PSV, despite a constant flow of games. Not exactly good prospects and definetely a weak performance unless selling close to WiiU suddenly became something to be proud of. 2016 will see even further decline to already weak sales, despite SQEX efforts/lineup, which at best will just soften a bit the blow. The decline is undeniable and seeing how the latest Atelier release sold better on PS4 than PSV we are already seeing first hints of further decay in "relevance" even in its little otaku niche. I doubt 2017 will have a comparable lineup to 2016 and the new handheld generation hype will just give it the final blow.

Pretty accurate analysis. There's nothing coming to Vita now that I see pushing hardware in a significant way. 2017 will probably be its last year as a system with many releases. Was fun while it lasted though.
I just hope Nintendos next handheld is a genuine upgrade over the Vita in power.

Japanese devs and handheld gamers dont seem to be pushed over graphics. So why should the NX being more powerful effect it? If anything it makes the vita the most affordable handheld which being more expensive was previously a big negative.
The line up in 2016 is it's best ever. If the NX comes out and the gap is nil or not major why shouldn't the vita go another 5 or 6 year generation? If the vita devs were going to switch they'd have done so by now.
I predict 2016 will be up YOY on 2015 and the console won't show any signs of stopping. It's called the vita for a reason. It will never die!
