Sony may even permanently lower the price to $300 permanently. If that happens, the PS2 days will be back in full effect.

It's possible as the $50 price drop last month didn't have the massive impact they would probably of been hoping for but maybe pre-orders for the November bundles caused that, Could also see them offering a $350 NDC + a free $50 game until christmas instead as an alternate to a permanant drop to $300 effectivly selling at $300.

How was a 10% price cut ever going to have a massive effect.  A massive effect only comes from a $100 plus cut.  we seen that now with ps4, Xbox 1 last November,  ps3 last gen and the ps2 before.

All reports suggest the ps4 is cheaper to make than the x1. It's selling double so it makes it even cheaper to produce..

The point is when Microsoft dramatically slashed in 2014 Sony didn't.  They could have but they didn't.  They had 2 options.  Cut my $50 last year and again this year or just cut by $100 this year.

Considering they sold nearly 30m at 399 they took the smart option.

If I was to guess I'd guess they'll sell the Ps4 with a Sony game for 299. A 3Rd party game for 349 and a limited edition 3Rd party console for 399. That seems like the best way to maximise both profits and sales.

@GribbleGrunger if this was for black friday only would the price have gone back up by now?  Or were they always going to keep the same price right through to cyber Monday?

Sony have been on the money so I'd be shocked if they didn't send out enough stock to last black friday right through to cyber Monday and more to refill the stores for the following week.

Their whole year seems targeted at a big November win and then momentum into December.  PSX will help that even further.
