Recommend me which Dragon Quest game to begin with.

Dont start with the very early versions 1-3 or so, or you ll end up getting put off by the fan translations and graphics.

I think you should start with IV-V and up (the NDS has 4,5,6,9 already, so you can play those with your 3ds).

7 & 8 are PS1 & PS2 games.
