PS4 has 2 skus in the top 10! Even though Xb one has the 3rd and 4th placed skus, their placement in the chart makes it hard not to come to the conclusion that right now PS4 is actually selling 2:1 over Xb one on Amazon. If it isn't it must be damned close to it.

When it comes to the weekly rankings, do people think they accurately represent the over all weekly sales in the USA? i.e. if PS4 is ahead on Amazon for the week then it is ahead nation-wide? Because comparing weekly for week 1 and VGC's November week 1 for USA they show oppoosite results.

VGC gives Xb one the win by a pretty decent margin
XOne 148,367
PS4 129,272

But the final week 1 rankings (with bundles on pre-order removed) on Amazon give a very different picture
#14 PS4 CoD
#20 PS4 NDC
#29 XBO Gears
#43 XBO 3 Games
#51 XBO Madden
#82 XBO + Kinect + 3 Games
#92 XBO Halo 5

2 PS4 skus in the top 20, the top Xb one sku is #29. There are a lot more Xb one skus in the list, but we know from historical NPD results that it's really just the top ranking skus that predict the actual US sales picture.

IMO Amazon is probably fairly reliable on the weeklies, though perhaps not quite as reliable as the monthlies, and that a very clear win for a console in a given week means a high probability that globally in the USA that console sold the most.

We know this isn't going to be the case when a significant pre-order bundle is releasing in a certain week, so Halo 5 didn't win the Amazon week on the week it released, but the pre-orders clearly put Xb one over the top. But the week all the CoD bundles come home to roost and PS4 doesn't get the win on VGS even though actual Amazon sales for the week puts PS4 ahead AND there are all those CoD pre-ordered bundles coming in.

Considering Amazon's alignment with other, major online retailers' sales charts, I have to think it's an issue with VGC's sales model. I find it hard to believe that those CoD preorders did not provide a boost similar to that of Halo 5 to the XBox (at launch week). If I'm not mistaken, the CoD bundle was very high on the charts, higher even than the Halo 5 bundle. While the respective volumes for each month is unknown, it's hard to imagine that they did not have similar popularity and relative sales.
