I agree with you. In a situation like that, it's survival of the fittest. If I manage to get into the lifeboat, there's no way I'm giving it up to any other man or woman.  It may sound cynical and "unmanly" for some, but I value my life more than an unknown person's life, even if that person happens to be a woman.

have you ever a though if the woman at the boot is your mother , sister or wife, girlfriend?

That's why I clarified and said an unknown person. I would've made sure my family members were safe before hopping on to safety myself if possible.
