By that logic, why should Link always have blonde hair or be white?

Link has been brunette a few times. Off the top of my head, he wasn't really bright blonde until A Link to the Past, with the NES games giving him light brown or dark brown hair in the official art. Recent games have given him dark blonde/light brown hair too...with the exception of the toon-styled games, which don't attempt to change the designs too much.

As for him being white, I imagine the main reason is the quasi-medieval European setting, which would be largely Caucasian.

I think I've responded in a thread similar to this one recently, but my stance hasn't changed. I can't see myself caring too much if a future incarnation of Link was female, but I don't think it's necessary either. Whatever happens, I'd hope the change was due to Aonuma's/Newnuma's creative vision, and not simply a response to feminists or equal rights activists. The ability to pick your gender would be a nice idea too, for the female Zelda fanbase...and also male gamers that like to pretend to be women when given the opportunity (not something I really understand...but won't judge either).
