Female Thor and Male Thor aren't the same thing people are asking towards Link though. Fem Thor is a different character. The Title is whats interchangable. Just like the Green Lanturn corps. Everyone is a Green Lanturn. But they're not saying Kyle, Hal, or John are the same character. They're the Green Lanturn's, for Earth.
Unless you're refering to alternate universe characters. Which Zelda does all the time. You're still not altering the original character. Just one alternate incarnation, would be female. Think Adventure Time's gender swap stories Ice King makes up. Finn isn't changed into Fionna.
