but in short: you cannot force people to be "positive, people respecting one another, people sharing their shared love for games BECAUSE of that love for games" and attempts to try and force that are counter-productive. forums are a place for various view points to be expressed, shared, and yes arguged. conflict is inevitable and frankly part of what entices people to forums. don't fight that,.. learn the difference between good and bad conflict. then moderate with a consistent set of rules that doesn't confuse the fuck out of the users. what is/isn't acceptable is waaay too dependant on who said it and who read it. in the mean time,.. i don't much care to post here anymore. the moderation is inconsistent and the certain users have learned how to exploit the modderation team either to shit post or to bait post. ..and that isn't fun to read or participate in. anyways,.. i'm heading back to the site i enjoy posting on now.. |
lol i agree with that. last year i even had a "testing" phase i used to do by my self. i used to push the limits ever so slightly, but because i had a small moderation history and was a good user, mods let it pass. it reached a point where i flat out said something sexist as a "joke" and nothing. i went on to belittle users saying shit like "did i hurt your little feelings?" and again, nothing.
moderation IMO should be harsh on new users to let them know that if they want to pull shit, it wont be tolerated. and if they are just trying to pull some shit, they should just be permabanned. but other than that, i think moderation should be consistant for all users.
