add the OS, keybord and mouse and optical drive ( because how the hell are you gonna install the drivers that will come with your peripherals) and you are already at 750$ US multiply that by 1.3 if you live in the free Canadian lands

Can I assume you have little to no experience with setting up computers?

There are many free alternatives to Windows as an OS, and anyone that installs Windows 10 currently can get a year of free usage out of it.
That leaves an erroneus addition of $250 for mouse, keyboard and optical drive?

If you plan to use mouse/keyboard for setup only and use the pc for just gaming, a cheap combo pack can be had for as little as $15, as for optical drive for installing drivers, it isn't needed, and most periperals these days don't actually have a CD because they submit the base drivers to Microsoft to be accessible via windows update.
