I believe your definition of fanboy misses the point. There is a big difference between being a fan and a fanboy and it is called complete ignorance.

A fan is someone who enjoys certain things but is very well aware of his own biases and treats others with the respect they deserve even if they don't like what you like. A fan is embracing its own fandom and will not even try to hide it.

A fanboy is someone who will shift into overdrive defensive mode as soon as someone says even something slightly negative about his fandom. Looking for contrived reasons why the opinion of his now enemy is wrong, sometimes even using insults to do so or leaving discussions early as to not harm his pure world view. A fanboy will sometimes go as far as to pretend not to be a fan to prove his unbias.

That's why fanboys are bad and why fanboy is meant as an insult. Calling someone a fanboy isn't attacking that person's fandom, it's attacking that person's ignorance and complete lack of self awareness.

You know that this forum does not only consists purely of fans but rather has a good amount of fanboys in all aisles.

Still, I would appreciate being allowed calling obvious fanboys fanboys. The same way we are allowed to call some non forum members assholes when they do asshole things.
