Because gamers have gotten completely used to the idea of companies getting them all hyped for these big "AAA" releases, and then releasing totally incomplete, buggy, broken or sometimes even unpolished products.
And a lot of times, gamers still accept the crap they were given, and find ways to defend it even when it is 100% bullshit practice.
