So with the Oct thread pretty well dead and buried it's probably OK to note the first hard numbers for Oct. With VGC updating hardware to 31 Oct we can now confirm that VGC is aligned with Amazon in giving PS4 the win. According to the YoY monthly hardware graphing tool USA looks like this:
PS4: 348,433
Xb one: 294,502
Obviously NPD could turn things on its head, but a ~54K win to PS4 is a substantial margin for the Halo 5 launch month. If the margin really is that big, Xb one is really in a hole on its home turf. With November almost half over, and certainly half over before MS can really make a substantial move on price, it seems unlikely that an official $50 price cut this late in the piece would give Xb one the holiday win in the USA.
