It's often said that "red" ending with complete military effective power is the canon ending (which is terrible imo). That ending in particular would allow Shepard to make a speech after the events of ME3

If that's the case, then I agree that it's a terrible ending to make it canon.

I liked that ending

But in any event, nothing in this trailer makes it clear Shepard is speaking after ME3. I would think its quite possible that the mission was sent out *after* the Reapers invaded, as a hedge against the possibility humanity would lose and be wiped out.

 

Good for you then. I like constructive endings more

And yeah, ClassicGamingWizzz already mentioned that possibility, and I agree that it's something that could fit nicely in the story.
