Do any of those games even sound remotely as iconic or good to you than the ones I mentioned? I have never heard of some of these games and a lot of these games bombed (and userbase can't be an excuse if you look at Tearaway: Unfolded's performance). The only game on my list that bombed was Viewtiful Joe. You can't seriously think that list equals mine in terms of critic/mainstream reception, popularity, longevity, sales, influence and impact in the gaming industry. I only mentioned one port (Soul Calibur II) because it has Link in it and it is one of my favorite franchises. I also forgot about Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Star Wars Rogue Leader. Not saying your list of games is bad, but learn to pick your battles I'd say! Add in the "plus" enhanced ports and it has a handheld lineup without peer. Man the Vita lineup is untouchable for diversity in the handheld arena. Doubt it if that lineup was the best you could come up with. Hey if your list is allowed ps2 games, let's chuck Final Fantasy X, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Sly Cooper and God of War in too. What PS2 games are on my list? Resident Evil 4 was built for the ground up for the GC and later ported to the PS2 (with inferior quality). 13 of the 15 games I mentioned aren't on the PS2 and the other two games are superior on the GC. And I know quite a few good multiplatform games I can still mention: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, SSX Tricky, SSX3, Prince of Persia: the sands of time, etc. Including games like FF X and GoW is like including the Zelda collecter's edition for the GC which includes OoT (+ Master Quest) and MM. More importantly for me though is the definitive portable Need for Speed, FIFA, Assassins Creed, Borderlands, Disagaea, Warriors, Rayman WRC, Moto GP etc. But I play a lot of games on the go so the ability to play them means a lot more. I do think the Vita exclusives will be a lot more fondly looked back on though just like the Dreamcast catalogue is now. People aren't going to remember those games for their Vita ports. Always interesting to note that the Vita Catalogue is compared against all systems, whilst the 3DS catalogue is held up purely against handheld releases. If it wasn't, pretty much every notable 3DS title would be disregarded due to superior home console versions of games. The Nintendo double standard remains strong. 3DS has many games that are built for the ground up for the system and thus there are no superior home console versions (with the exception of Super Smash Bros. 4). Your argument makes no sense. Oh and I'll take ALBW over Skyward Sword any day of the week if that's what you mean. I'm sorry but the Vita won't be remembered like the GC, I don't believe that for a minute. I think it's Nintendo's best home console (I never owned a NES or SNES though). It had better third party support than even the Wii imo. |
