If MS funded the game in the way it sounds then it wouldnt be coming out on PS4 at all. What it could mean is that SE was over budget and did a deal for timed exclusivity and then that helped pay for continued development... different angle to come from. :D |
Maybe the Street fighter angle was wrong, as Capcom is the only high profile company that will keep a game exclusive to consoles, but still release them on PC. i.e Street fighter V for Sony, and dead Rising 3 for MS.
The point is, MS put more than marketing dollars behind it's exclusivity with Square Enix, This game could have been in the same boat as Shenmue 3 is, it needed more funding to be better than what they had. Square Enix has been spreading itself thin lately announcing alot of games/remakes this gen.
As much as this game is synonomous with the Sony brand, Sony was not going to help fund a direct competitor to one of it's 1st party franchises. Sony has been using most of it's money to lock up exclusivity with the FPS group of games. Where they have been inconsistent at best in making an 1st party exclusive FPS. Look at their advertising, Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront, and COD BLOPS3 have seen more air time, then Until Dawn, Blood Borne, and the Order.
