I have some money. If it becomes a good, early way of getting a solid vr experience I'd consider getting a playstation 4 just for it and to hell with the price.

However, I suspect the ps4 just isn't powerful enough to deliver and I wouldn't pay much for a disappointing experience when I can just get oculus rift and more powerful pc.

If you need to buy a PS4 I would not do it. As the experience of the Oculus or Vive will be clearly superior in all aspects.Higher Resolution more horsepower from the PC. Room scale tracking in the case of the Vive which makes apparently a huge difference (could not test myself).

Its a good investment if you already own a PS4 as this would give you a streamlined consumer friendly VR experience in decent quality for a good price.

However if you need to spend roughly 800 on PS4 and PSVR I would invest a bit more into a system (PC) that is future proof and will have the best VR experiences from a technical point of view.

Sony might have some killer VR Games exclusively however so can Vive and Oculus.
