SO my only question in trying to judge the slant of this review is whether you believe his claim at the start that he used to be a massive halo fanboy and whether you believe he's being harsh because a once beloved franchise that he placed firmly on a pedestal above all other games has fallen significantly in his mind. If you believe those sentiments are genuine then I don't know how you can dismiss his review.

There are many long standing Halo players and they all have different views of the franchise.  There are many that loved ODST but hated halo 3 or loved Halo 1 but disspised Halo 2.  Just because someone is a fan of the series does not make their opinion any more valid then the next guy.  Actually I find that these fans who get so wrapped up in what they believe a certain franchise is are the worst when it comes to reviews.  Their opinions usually are so bias and screwed to whatever they feel the game should be instead of playing the game for what it is.

After finishing the game, the things Joe brings up are valid knocks against the game but does that mean his score is representive of the SP or even the complete work.  If you value Joe's opinion then yes but just like any opinion, not everyone will put as much weight to the knocks as some.  The only knock I have against Halo 5 is no split screen but I totally enjoyed the story probably because I finished Halo 4.  I played on Heroic so the campaign was 8 hours + for me and just enough so that I did not become bored.  The AI was just as good as the other series but will say your Team AI can definitely do with more work.

You missed the point of what I'm saying. It seems to me that a lot of the people bitterly complaining about Joe's review think he's being motivated by an inherent negativity towards Halo. But what Joe claims is that he is motivated by an inherent love for Halo. It doesn't mean what he says and thinks is wrong or right, but motive for why you do or say something is important for people to judge for themselves whether a point of view is unfair or negatively biased. My interpretation of Joe's review, being that I have no emotional investment in Halo at all I feel like I am in a position to be reasonably objective, is that his motivation behind his review is not questionable. So what I'm saying is that I think people are being unfair to Joe. I don't really care if they agree or disagree with Joe's specific criticisms or his score.
