Overall, it seems Gen 8 is continuing many of the trends started in Gen 7. Those trends being: longer development times, the main focus being on big budget "blockbusters" and ignoring the more mid range titles, increase in DLC practices, timed exclusives, yearly sequels, remasters, and many other things that greatly benefit the publishers and remind us it's a business. Now, not all of that results in a worse experience for the gamer. But much of it does. And Gen 7 is kind of where my interests and the industry's interests diverged a little. I'm not really into many of the games that the industry pushes. I don't care about CoD, or Battlefield, or Battlefront, or Assassin's Creed, or Tomb Raider, or Gears of War, or the other "big hitters" of the industry.  Lucky for me, the indie market can satisfy some of that need I have.  And Kickstarter has definitely filled some of the holes as well.

That being said, I definitely have a nice collection of games for the PS4, Wii U, Vita, and 3DS, not to mention the PC. I just see the direction the industry is going in, and it's not necessarily how I would prefer it go.
