DivinePaladin said: Not sure how Ratchet is just like anything else that releases but I'll move past that and assume you're just saying words. That said, don't assume Ratchet wins sales just yet. The movie is going to have to be a big hit and Sony will actually have to cross-promote for that to happen; Star Fox will probably sell at least 1.5 million because of idiots like me buying it despite it not being a finished game. Ratchet hasn't sold that since 2009, and the only truly finished Ratchet games since the PS2 came out in 2007 and 2011. Given these factors and the fact that PS4 games don't necessarily sell on party identification alone (Tearaway Unfolded, LBP), I could easily see Fox winning the sales argument in the likely scenario that Sony fucks up the marketing. Hopefully they don't and the series takes off again, but I've been burned by Sony too much to assume they won't mess up. Here's hoping SFZero is finished, but I'm not holding my breath there either. |
It's worth noting that a big reason for the bolded is that 2009 was the last time R&C got a proper traditional retail focused entry. The closest it's had since then was A4O in 2011 (a spin-off), and ITN (a short epilogue entry). I'd be quite surprised if the new R&C didn't outsell both.
Ignoring that though, i agree that which will win in sales it's clear cut. I'm personally expecting R&C to win in the end, but how well both do will depend a lot on how hard Sony and Nintendo push them, and how well they're received.
