It took long enough and it's really just borrowing what's been done elsewhere but it does sound like a significant improvement. I remember saying they needed to have this in place before the Wii U launched but at least they'll have it before the NX pops forth.
I'd guess that the mobile deal provided the real impetus. I wonder if they got outside help on the setup.
Hope the friends thing doesn't end up being more convoluted than necessary.
