Not knowing the whole story, people cannot think they can get away with anything just because there might be a public outcry. Could the cop have handled it better, maybe. Could all of this have been prevented if the child wasn't misbehaving, YES. Thinks about the source of the problem before you blame the results.

The problem with your statement is that you believe a non-violent situation had to end with what we saw in the video.  There is no maybe that this could have been handled better.  At no point did the officer, teacher or anyone else actually talked with the kid and find out why she was acting the way she was.  Who hasn't experience a situation where either a teacher or adult difussed situations where a fight was about to happen or some violent event just by talking and listening to the students.  Many situation people shutdown when approached in a meacing way compared to "Hey lets talk about whats going on" type of approach.

So if this was your daughter, wife, mom, sister ect.  What if anyone of them was going through, depression, death, rape, assualt, anger, hunger you name or just rebellious because of any one of a hundred situations that a kid could be going through.  Being a stubborn ass whether it was a boy or girl does not allow a cop or anyone else to abuse you like this video.  If the parent, teacher, principal had did something like this what do you think would happen.  Why would you even think this is approiate behavoior for a cop to show such force in school in front of other students.  Why would you think such violence is something you would want your kid to see another kid subjected to like it standard behavior for cops to do this to another non-violent student.  If this is what you expect from the police in your kids school, then I hope you never find yourself in a situation like this where your kid is being an ass but non-violent and is treated like this.

No one is claiming that this kid was not at fault or that discipline wasn't needed in some shape or form but to be slammed and tossed like trashed hell no.  Why would I as a parent want my kids to feel like a cop can just do what the hell he wants in school because you have a bad day.

oh come on, get real here, there is no doubt that this is the sort of student who is a repeat offender in terms of misbehaving. her teacher apparently was fairly quick into asking for administration help because he knew she was a problem child

it's not about the cop 'doing whatever he wants' its about the simple fact that on a government premesis where there are RULES you need to obide by them. she's not an 8 year old girl, she's a teenager and knew exactly what she was doing

any teenage kid making a scene and disobeying administration and officers should be prepared to get dragged out of a classroom, uncomfortably or otherwise

it's not a yes or no question, it's literally the law of the school. sorry but if my kid is disobeying a bunch of different school officials and THEN a police officer the last thing I'm going to feel is bad for them when they get dragged out of a classroom

cop did nothing wrong in this case
