That's the opposite of big picture. That's just looking at things through console-wars glasses. And MS is shrugging off this consolewar nonsense, surely because they're losing badly, but this is where the big picture kicks in. You can still be profitable, follow your strategy, build your brand stronger and offer quality products for your customers even if you're not a market leader.

No it's not. I was talking about the console war and who's winning it or in other words, who has the marketshare this gen. I brought it up because that guy I responded to was trying to say that the xbox one wasn't doing badly.

Ms and nintendo are doing what as you described. Trying to build up brand and make a profit this gen.

You should read his post again because you totally missed his point. He even said it's doing badly when compared to PS4 but there's more to it. You know, that big picture you're missing. It's not about redefining any metrics of success, they're all there already.

I was talking about console market and not corporate strategy or profits. It was about "MS is a success because it's doing better than the 360". It's not. Marketshare is what used to determine how well a console does in it's respective gen. That's the way I used "big picture". Of course, it could keep being escalulated back and forth to no end. "that's not the big picture, this is." over and over again.  I'm not gonna take part in that circular nonsense.

He didn't even call X1 a success 😐 ok so you see it as circular nonsense and choose to see only X1 vs PS4 sales numbers, fair enough. Just makes me wonder why you even bothered replying then.
