Little Big Planet people!

LBP has me confused, because it's basically either completely overlooked by half the gaming population, or incredibly overhyped by the other half.

I'm curious to see how it pans out. I think it looks fascinating, but I'm not sure it's the revolutionary experience some are building it up to be. With the majority of the content to be user created, how will that sell it to the vast majority of "casual" players that have no interest in building their own levels, and just want to buy a game and play it? If GTA released and gave buyers the city and a handful of missions, and then told them to make their own story and missions, would it be as popular? Hard to say.

While I hope it ends up a quality game, I'm not sure it will be a huge seller, since it's one of those games you probably have to play to get the idea behind it. It isn't like GTA where you can have a 30 second commercial that adequately portrays the product. If you show a clip of burlap men hopping around a bizarre environment, and then throw the words "LittleBigPlanet" on the screen, the majority response will probably be along the lines of "WTF?" What LBP will need is the Wii Sports response when someone new plays it, along the lines of "Wow, this is cool, I should buy this system". Whether it achieves that or not is the real trick.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.
