Syndicate is set in the 19th century and there were plenty of other ethnicities in 19th century london. I don't personally care because I have zero interest in this game but please get your facts right.

Yes indeed, the 1800s, not the 18th century, my bad.

However, as far as ethnicities goes, immigration records show irish as being the largest immigrant group, the first census taken of londoners was carried out in 1841 and found that 4% of londoners (73,000) were from ireland, a further 13,000 from eastern countries such as french, italian, german and spanish.

Chinese, indian and african immigration did occur but in significantly smaller numbers, the number of british born white residents was over 90% and of the remaining number, most of which were from ireland or neighbouring countries, many such immigrants also had/have white skin too.

Having not played the game I can't say whether Sarkeesian is exaggerating the issue. She certainly makes it sound as if ALL the npc's are white. For historical accuracy I would expect at least a small smattering of non-whites, maybe a few pockets of asian communities, but yes, mostly white.

On this point I actually take issue with something Sarkeesian said in the review. Having a trans gender being "normalized" in that time period doesn't make sense. I prefer honest portrayals over idealized ones. I liked the fact that Black Flag didn't shy away from the race issue in that game, that was honest.  I would prefer syndicate to be honest with their portrayal of minorities as well, but that is just me.
