Indeed, First it was 1080P didnt matter, then 1080P@60FPS wasnt such a big deal and took away from "Cinamatic gaming", Then 4k is not such a big deal etc. And that thread is just so funny and shows a few posters clear agenda against PC. |
Throughout the thread I have been trying to keep a positive light onto both sides, especially PC. I've supported the fact that PC gaming's high input allows better gameplay for certain genres (RTS, MMORPGs, etc.), accepted the idea that PC gaming is most likely cheaper in the long run and that PCs are more of a everyday need/utility than consoles, so a higher price is justifiable since it can do a million other task besides gaming. I even admitted that I should have spent more time researching.
Just check my posts. If those can't convince you that I'm not trying to take both sides than I don't know what I can do.
The entire thread is based on the value (money) of PC gaming VS console gaming out of the box (machines of about the same specs).
When it comes to solely and purely gaming reason, dollar per dollar value, console beats PC gaming initially because it's cheaper and you do not need to go through the hassle of researching and building the rig. I admit my opening response is very rough against PCs, but that's just because of the BS argument that PCs can be cheaper than consoles from the ground-up thrown by certain people in the community.
And to assure you that I've actually went through creating a PC, below is my build. Price is a bit more expensive considering the generator doesn't factor shipping, includes different stores and might factor mail-in rebates. Also does not include keyboard, monitor and other accessories I might have bought.

Only thing I wish I had done is invest on a quad processor instead of my dual one. I'll buy an i7 if I ever see on a really good deal (or i5 if the discount is good enough). As of now I've been able to play everygame very smoothly. I even managed to run Star Citizen on its highest settings with just a few hiccups.
