One interesting aspect of preorders is that GameStop will order stock based on preorders.  When I went to pick of Metal Gear, all of the Xbox One versions where sold out because they had fewer preorders.  However, this can backfire on them because not everyone preorders.  I learned that companies push preorders as a method for figuring out how much stock to provide. 

 

If the controller is too popular and they can't provide enough stock, then thats a totally different thing. Think like how the Wii or PS4 was supply constrained.  This may also be the case for the controller.  Notice how fast and sudden it climbed the charts.

Yeah it ended up at #25 for the monthly. At #6 for Xbox One on Gamestop. Right under COD and Fallout 4.
