I was interested in the first... i got and completed the second... then came revelations and my other half sort of took over. Played Brotherhood and revelations. I watched bits and pieces. After that came 3 and interested waned on my other half aswell. The convenient jump to the american civil war in hopes of boosting sales really lost us and the hasty finish of the Overarch story with desmond was the same.
Since then the series has been dragging. We didnt play anything else until a couple of weeks ago i decided to get Unity on sale. Its ok... i played a couple of hours... but i havent made a full decision yet. What is already certain though is that the overarching story that spiced the series is mostly gone, replaced with unseen faces and no special overarching misteries or stories besides Abstergo/templars vs assassins.
The series is dragging. Theres no focus or connecting link. Its just games with similar frameworks in different times and usually average stories. Ubi killed it. I dont see how it can come back.
