The ps3 was built to have a ten year life cycle. But the 360 and wii will last as long is the ps3 will. That would be the same as if this new gen didn't come. The ps2 would still be getting all the games and would still be the console of choice if there was no new gen. I'm sure that each would be developing a new console, but it would be to Nintendo's advantage for this current gen to last as long as it possibly can. If Sony wants a chance at recapturing their top spot, they would have to force the issue on a new gen making Nintendo and Microsoft follow.
