But everyone expects access to an internet connection from a PC gamer. In this day and age it's completely unreasonable for a PC gamer to not be able to go online.

So you're telling me I should pay for an internet connection at the place where I spend my vacation, just because EA felt like requiring me to have an internet connection on every single computer I use to play games?

How's that for unreasonable?
