Becaus you can have that added to a MMo. Imagine all you already can do in a Pokemon game - now imagine if that pokemon trainers you see during the game are players just like you. Everyone battling to become a pokemom master, isntead you just fighting an AI.

I know, I would love to play a pokemon MMO wether I'm in my twenty's like now, or fourty's later. But I don't see it happening this generation. The online capabilities of the wii are to modest at this point for a full-fldges MMO. Even if we look at an internet-powerhouse console like the Xbox360, the multiplayer online games rarely have more then 20, maybe 30+ players. I know, it's mostly shooters but even in there I recall a pressreport where people where amazed that there could possibly be more then 60 people on one server.
I don't know every game there is, but I cannot recall one game on any console that would closely resemble or make a good pokemon MMO experience. PS' Home perhaps, but even there the online world is there more for show and tell.
When looking at Nintendo, I believe 12 is the most now that people can connect to one server, and that is for Mario Kart. 100's Of people on one server for a pokemon MMO would seem impossible at this point. Any less and it will probably be too empty.
I do believe, and I would desperatly want a full pokemon MMO, I just don''t see it happening now. Also because Nintendo previously stated that they don't see any uses for the MMO genre at this point.
What I do think will happen is that you cna connect via Wi-Fi to other players and battle you're pokemon against theirs (kinda like how you start MP matches in GTA4), just that you won't be able to meet these trainers in the same realm.
The Doctor will see you now
