PSNow is not for gamers like us, it's for casuals who may not own a console but just want to play a game or two. Yes, Sony are used the consoles as a way of establishing it but it really isn't the end game. The end game is to have it in ALL devices. It's already in Sony TVs, Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players and it will be rolled out to other devices over the years.
As far as it being a viable proposition for BC (even though it was never meant to be), it could offer a solution: If Sony can give it a way of checking what you've purchased on PSN and then offer those games for free streaming, then there's your solution.
The PS5 Exists.
