I don't think so at all. It fits in perfectly with the Prime series, which always had a weird spin-off perspective on the franchise anyway. The gameplay looks great. It's just the art style that sucks.

He did take an important role, but he's one man, and just the producer. The entire Zelda team is working on Zelda U, including the director, who isn't Aonuma. He's just an overseer. Him working on HW had absolutely no negative effect on the developement of Zelda U. WWHD even less so, since they specifically used that game to learn HD developement through experience. The game would probably be out later without it, not sooner.
