Stats on how a game is doing in popular opinion and its effect on advertising, is it possible?

I'm off to delve into sales comparisons. Anyone know how acurate google trends is, Do they take every search into account and what countries are they ommiting?

Look at 2015 gobal searches over the intire world:

You see intest & headlines at any given moment in 2015, has twice as many PS4 hits as Xbox One, and the Wii U is barely there.
