Time-of-Flight image sensors, used for measuring distance from the sensor. Xbox One's Kinect also uses this technology.

Sony could use this tech to improve the accuracy of PlayStation VR. Right now, PSVR uses the PlayStation Camera to measure the headset's location in 3D space. But the PS Camera uses stereo cameras to measure depth (Not as accurate or reliable as ToF sensors).
