What if they had really thick legs and arms and stubby necks and fought Locust instead? Would that make it look better to you?
Just from a casual view point this games visuals are to this point, bar none (on console) the best looking game being made. But I guess since the console its coming out on has a PS on the front its just underwhelming.

On topic, this game looks amazing and its only in pre alpha. I cant wait to see Resistance 2, since I read and heard from some podcasts that it looked almost as good.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.
