Maybe it's nothing. They just hanged out and about. Mark Cerny is just knowing him a bit more personally so when the time comes, they'll woo him into Sony.

Seriously though, I think it's nothing. I don't think Sony can hire him at this moment when they're doing pretty good financially. For Kojima games to work like he wants, he needs a lot of money, money Sony isn't willing to throw away.

Really? Are people still going on with the whole "Sony is broke" thing?

They have plenty of cash, they just had a new stock issue to raise 3 billion and have 7.9 billion in cash reserves and have an excellent debt / equity ratio.

They are expected to hit around 35 dollars per share in the next 12 months according to forecasts.

Just for comparisons sake Microsoft has assets totalling 169 billion this is in comparison to Sony with 142 billion. Apple has 231 billion in assets.

They could easily fund Kojima and not even think about it, cause it would be worth it marketing-wise and product-wise.

Well, I'd be the last guy to say that "Sony is broke". That's why I said Sony was doing good right now. I'm just saying Sony needs to be cautious on what they invest. I would love to see Kojima with Sony, but I don't want that his perfect vision drags the Playstation division down.
