It's not that simple..some people have poor olfaction, like me. I can't smell most things unless they are basically glued to my nose and even then it might be hard to identify what it is if it's a faint scent

People around me are always smelling things that I can'tt

What about the heat? He was the same distance if you where near your stove burners on.
