Assuming this happens the first day (Oct. 28), the PS4 will have 4 days in October to benefit from the price cut, while the XBO will have 5 days to benefit from Halo 5 (hm... 4 days for the PS4, 5 days for Halo 5; coincidence or conspiracy?). It's all going to come down to which provides the biggest boost. Halo 3 did provide a decent boost for the 360, and we can reasonably assume that if the XBO gets a similar boost from Halo 5 it could sell on the order of 350k. However, Halo 3 was hyped to the moon and back. It was by far the biggest new game of 2007 in the U.S. But price cuts can result in huge boosts themselves. If the PS4 gets a $100 price cut in the U.S. and it gets a similar boost to what the PS2 got from its first price cut, we could potentially see well over 400k units sold in October. But even a $50 reduction could provide a big enough boost to push the PS4 ahead of the XBO. Basically, this is all going to come down to the last week of the month and what Sony does at PGW. |
Just do not see a price cut when their bundle prices like CoD for $450 were already released.
