I doubt they're getting ready to drop Xbox, it seems more like they're just trying to expand into being more than just a console though. They want it to be a whole ecosystem.

Xbox One will still get its exclusive games like Scalebound, Recore, Gears of War 4, etc in order to push console sales and keep the Xbox One relevant. But it seems like they'll just be expanding. Then at the same time they can be making money off of games that go on Xbox One and Windows 10 together, and now that they have the Havok engine that means they'll be making a shit ton of more money if they decide to license it out to everyone else.

Microsoft is probably going to be a bigger part of the industry than ever before this generation with how much they are expanding what they do. They already own some of the most successful IPs ever and now with things like Havok being bought they will also have some of the best engines ever.
