The point was to extend the life of the 3DS. That's all. It isn't new anymore. So they have to make something new for it.
People should of looked at Nintendo's track record in supporting accessories/upgraded hardware, in the past. To see what would happen. Like the Wii Zapper, Zapper, ROB, Famicom 3D Vision, 64DD, DS Rumble Pack, Satellaview, Gameboy Color Phone Adapter, Gameboy Printer, Gamecube Broadband Adapter, SNES Mouse, Super Scope, and the previous stop gap, DSi. The only one add-on they made, that actually was done okay, was the Famicom Disk System.
