Old games that don't hold up to today games (dated gameplay for example) won't enter in the list.

The list is pretty decent.

That's fine if you are comparing the first console FPS with the latest ones due to controls and refinement or some badly aged JRPGs. Yet, they gave Golden Eye a retrospective 10 but it's not even on the list.

Edge are contridicting themselves in this list. They have Elite Dangerous in there, which they gave 8/10. Yet they don't have Elite which they gave a retrospective 10 to (they having not existed when Elite first came out). They gave only 1 driving game 10/10, the first Gran Turismo yet the highest ranking driving game on the list is Driveclub which they gave 7/10.

I can understand if things haven't aged well but that wouldn't change the influence certain games have on the existance of others after it.  Much of their list is fine but people are confused by stuff like this. Could you honestly say that Driceclub is the best driving game?

Seems heavily biased towards the last 2 generations. Are games really that much better now?

Of course not, sure controls are more refined, games are smoother due to controls but I've yet to find a JPRG matching up to FF6, 7, 8 and 9 and yet to play a platformer as good as older Marios and Crash.

What I think may have been a factor here is the staff at Edge, I think they are younger than we imagine and many of them might not have even considered games older than a certain time as potentials.

Hmm, pie.
