In just 1 bn years. Lol. We are so indoctrinated by these big numbers that it feels like it's around the corner. Our written history is just around 7000 years old. We have enough time.

Actually, I would say we're more indoctrinated in terms of 2-4 years tops, which is around the timeframe of a senator/congressman/President. The proof is how little we invest in future tech (for the US anyway), that would result in benefits beyond your typical Governmental term.
The inability of many people to wrap their heads around a million or billion years worth of natural processes, is precisely why Evolution has been such a hard concept for people to grasp.
