I put about 20 hours into Skyrim and quit. I've restarted a few times on Oblivion putting into around 20 before quitting every time. I like the mechanics of Skyrim although enemies like the humans, skeletons, and dragons are too easy while other enemies like the troll, sabertooth, mammoth, and giant spider are too hard, constantly having to switch difficulty. The story dialogue and quest dialogue on Oblivion far surpass what I've played of Skyrim. Never finished either one.
If the next Elder Scrolls has as good of dialogue as Oblivion, the detail of the dungeons of Skyrim along with the better combat mechanics and hopefully a more balanced over world, then it would be the best in the series.
If From Software makes a new King's Field I'd rather play that than a new Elder Scrolls.
