tak13 said: Oh the big days when wii u had killer deals, selling 70k-110k and we were lurkers here(december'13)!Great memories!:P Do you remember the 110k week?Oh...The bundle of wii party u had also given a 1500% boost in it's week of release in november 2.8k->42k! And then in 2014 the complete dissappointment,i.e no deals, just the release of Mario kart 8 bundle in mid november, 9 months after the game release, lol well done nintendo!:P In a thread about wii u sales in Japan in 2015 back in march when I was predicting timidly the boost and momentum by the almighty splatoon and been mocked shamelessly for that, help of other releases huge(in this time we didn't know about the impressive super mario maker) and not so big(xenoblade,(shin megami tensei x fire emblem, yoshi wooly world e.tc,and I had overhyped Pokken fighters well we will see in 2016,also Animal crossing amiibo party might be a secret power too,for yokai dance,I'm fucking perplexed,I can't express any opinion, although it has yokai on it, sothat's an advantage),I had a dispute with a guy and asked the following question to my opposer''what if Nintendo launch again killer bundles in 2015(viz,bundles that you're essentially saving money by purchasing them)''! I hope Nintendo to fulfil what you suggested, pretty smart darling(mario kart 8+splatoon lethal combination),as always!:P ;) The Mario kart 8 bundle abolisment for the replacement by Super mario maker bundle wasn't a good omen though, why not keeping both,ok I understand, retaining one, means focus to that bundle, ergo more sales for super mario maker which is a recent release, but this move makes so much difference...? |
Yep, the deals in 2013 were completely brilliant and 2014 was a huge disappointment. The MK8 bundle was lame in comparison, and didn't offer much. At least the SMM bundle came at launch and not months later, lol.
I think the the removal of the MK8 bundle is an indicator of 2 things. The first being that Nintendo simply wants to push Super Mario Maker more, and the other might be that they are displacing it (which would make sense for the Splatoon bundle I suggested, but that could be wishful thinking).
Nintendo could do so many things for the Wii U in Japan, but it's up to them. They have to be willing to sacrifice some to reap the benefits. Even just limited deals would do wonders this holiday, and they have the appealing software to do it. The ball's in their court.
