I already game at resolutions higher than 4k. (7680x1440 eyefinity to be exact.)

And I have four Radeon R9 290's in crossfire. Before that, Triple Radeon 7970's. Before that... Radeon 6950's unlocked into 6970's.
And I will likely buy into AMD's Fury successor on the 1x node.
Guess where I see the largest performance increase? It's not overclocking my GPU Ram. 

And this is where we will have real beef. I owned a launch 7970, and taking the VRAM from 1250-1800 saw a massive 15% boost from that alone.  In fact the VRAM (% wise) made just as big a difference as the core in 1080p.

With my old 765m overclocking the VRAM made a BIGGER difference than the core.

 

I won't doubt that the Fury X is an unbalanced card, because it clearly is.  But the PS4 is equal to about an R9 370, and that card has VRAM that is about aws fast as the PS4 - and it needs it buddy.  The X1 is massively bandwidth starved compared to its closest desktop counterpart (Performance wise) - the 7770.



Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.
