Yeah. I'd have to look at the actual proposal. Sounds wierd. Of course with Hilary Clinton saying she doesn't trust economists it doesn't surprise me that much.

The Oil Companies are doing a lot of profiteering but if you want the stop them you have to close the loopholes, not just have some weird free floating body.

I assume they realize though that by closing said loopholes they'd reduce the gas company's insentive to stock up on gas ahead of time leading the country to an increased chance of a shortage.

Really they'd need to find a way to get around the price gouging that's done after. The fact that gas prices never drop down to the level they were at before the event that raised them up, even when said event is over.

However to do that they would likely need to set a hard cap on how much a company could charge for gas per barrel of oil. Which would be some hard legistlation to get passed to say the least.
