Microsoft Disables Safedisc DRM On Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, & Windows 8/8.1
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/microsoft-disables-safedisc-drm-on-windows-vista-sp2-windows-7-sp1-windows-88-1/
Last month, we informed you about a Windows 10 update that disabled Safedisc DRM on Microsoft’s latest operating system. Well, it appears that Microsoft has applied this security update on all its other operating systems as well. This basically means that the Safedisc DRM is disabled on Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, thus rendering a number of games unplayable.
Thankfully, Microsoft has provided a workaround. Those interested in running such games will have to either temporarily turn on the service for the secdrv.sys driver by running certain commands, or by editing the registry.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/254426/Cities_Skylines_leads_this_years_list_of_Unity_award_winners.php
Colossal Order, Squad, and Amplitude Studios were among the developers recognized by Unity this week with awards handed during the company's Unite 2015 conference in Boston. The Unity Awards are a nice nod to developers who are seen to use Unity's toolset in interesting or exemplary ways, and this year was especially notable because Unity began awarding a new "Best VR Experience" accolade.
Each year the awards are voted on by both Unity representatives and Unity developers based on a handful of nominations across what is now nine categories of honors, with the "Golden Cube" going to the "best overall" project made with Unity in the past year.
For your convenenience, the full list of this year's winners is reprinted below:
- 2015 Unity Award winners Golden Cube - Cities: Skylines by Colossal Order
- Best 3D Visual Experience - Endless Legend by Amplitude Studios
- Best 2D Visual Experience - Ori and the Blind Forest by Moon Studios
- Best Gameplay - Kerbal Space Program by Squad
- Best VizSim Project - Parachute Training Simulator by Pennant PLC
- Best Non-game Project - UEFA Champions League Nissan Orchestra by Wasd Studio
- Best VR Experience - Tilt Brush by Google
- Asset Store Award - Chronos - Time Control by Ludiq
- Best Student Project - Anarcute by Anarteam
Curious developers may also appreciate Cities: Skylines designer Karoliina Korppoo's recent postmortem of the game, in which she describes how and why Colossal Order used Unity to create its award-winning game rather than build its own engine
If you go to Unity's award site: https://unity3d.com/awards/2015/winners, you can check videos of the winners. That Parachute Training Simulator only needs a fan to make it mind blowing.
