By whatever name you wish to call it, when a price cut occurs, it comes at the expense of the manufacturare, and it's something they would rather avoid if possible. If Sony thought that staying on $399 forever with PS4 would earn them the most money when all is said and done, they would. |
Its not really relevant. MS absorbing more lose due to unbudnling the kinect doesn't translate to it being a price cut.
MS decided to offer a non-kincet sku at $399.00. If MS will lose more money or not, it holds no bearing as it is still not a price cut. It is simply a new sku with a new price point.
The only price cut is the $50.00 cut which brings the price price points to
1. xboxone with kinect - $449
2. xboxone only - $349.00
If there was really a $150 price cut than the oriignal sku, which is the xbox with kinect bundle, should now be $349.00, which is not the case.
Spin it all you want, there has only been one price cut and that is the $50.00 cut on all skus.
I challenge anyone to prove that there was a $150.00 price cut.
xboxone with kinect now - $449.00
add back the so called $150.00 price cut and we get
$599.00 and is not equal to the original price point of $499.00
And yes, this is the base of it all and not the knectless sku.
MS losing more money due to unbundling, again, has no relevance to this as it is their strategy...or lack of one..
