Steambox's were looking like the only really viable alternative. linux gaming is too fragmented with far too many issues, OS.X has too small a marketshare to be a primary target for devs and the other platforms don't have the power or support to currently challenge desktop gaming. really most devs are still targetting DX first, OpenGL just hasn't been able to keep up, only time will tell if this iteration will be different.

You really should get your eyes checked if you still can't see the support for Windows 7, 8 and 10. That's much, much better than what DX12 offers. I can't find a single reason to move from my Win 7. If they allow me to keep getting the best effects on this system and have all games 100% compatible, I won't switch in years.
